Unlock the potential of qualitative research with expert guidance and practical training designed to build your skills and confidence.
Explore TrainingDr Claire Moran is a qualitative researcher, educator, trainer, and founder of The Qualitative Research Institute. She has trained thousands of researchers from universities, government agencies, and health organisations worldwide. Claire has published widely across education, social science, and biomedical journals, and specialises in making qualitative research practical, accessible, and rigorous.
Claire translates complex theories and methodologies into practical, plain-English guidance that researchers can confidently apply in their own work. Through engaging, hands-on training, she helps researchers build the skills and confidence to design, conduct, and publish high-quality qualitative research.
Passionate about demystifying qualitative research and creating engaging, hands-on learning experiences, Claire's training is characterised by:
The University of Queensland · The University of Melbourne · Monash University · University of New South Wales · University of Western Australia · Royal College of Surgeons, Ireland · QIMR Berghofer Medical Research Institute · Menzies School of Health Research · Australian Department of Defence · The Hong Kong Polytechnic University · Queen's University, Belfast
Whether you're navigating your first research project or refining an established practice, Claire's approach is built around three core commitments.
Complex qualitative theories and methodologies translated into accessible, practical language — so you can understand, apply, and build on them with confidence.
Every training program is built around real research challenges. Practical exercises, worked examples, and structured guidance you can put to use immediately.
Research is a long game. Claire's programs and membership offer the ongoing expert support researchers need to stay on track and keep moving forward.
Throughout my career, I've recognised a persistent and crucial need for more effective qualitative research training.
Despite receiving the Dean's Award for Outstanding Research Higher Degree Theses, my own PhD in Health Psychology highlighted how difficult it can be to navigate qualitative research without proper training. This inspired me to return to my teaching roots, where I began creating the resources and workshops I'd needed earlier in my career.
Today, I'm dedicated to demystifying the complexities of qualitative research and methodologies, ensuring they are clear and accessible for researchers at every stage of their career.
By supporting researchers to build their skills and confidence, I can ensure they're equipped to produce valuable projects and effectively contribute to their fields.
